It is probably the wildest and most brutal muscle car ever produced worldwide; worse, it was in a "customer competition" version, with almost 485 official horsepower, that it was initially offered for sale for motor racing competition. Its performance, even today, more than half a century after its construction, had nothing to envy from current supercars. The second and authentic 427 S/C series from 1965, the one whose value can reach millions, is therefore one of these "customer competition" versions that could not be sold at the time, paradoxically, due to a lack of buyers, and which had to be made roadworthy, by equipping them, among other things, with a windshield. Of the thirty or so examples that were reconditioned to legal standards, the power that, officially, had to be revised for road use, notably by optimizing the compression ratio, was not always unofficially; which explained the very complex adjustments on certain examples. Regarding the transmission, examples were sometimes delivered with the three-speed manual gearbox, sometimes with the four-speed manual gearbox. Nowadays, this car has become almost impossible to find, and very few examples still remain, or perhaps none still running in their strictly original configuration. Jay Leno, a great American collector of prestige cars, unveiled in 2020 a very beautiful example of this version, close to its factory condition in 1965. The examples were delivered until 1966.
