The new version of the F40 is manufactured two years after the original model, following the order of a French importer wishing to align it at the 24 hours of Le Mans. The first two examples manufactured are actually known as the F40 LM and are equipped with a powerful engine, modified suspensions and a specific aerodynamic package. The factory then received further requests from customers, and ten models were eventually manufactured in total. The name Le Mans was considered too restrictive, so the designation Competizione was used.
